I have come to be fascinated by grace: that gentle state so easily misunderstood in today’s hurried world, often wrongly attributed to a particular belief system and mistakenly associated with powerlessness or mindlessly conforming to convention.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
“Grace is a force that by its own qualities illuminates your life as well as the lives of others around you, always transforming a situation toward a better place,” is how author and medical intuitive Caroline Myss describes it.
Who wouldn’t want that?
If it still seems a bit lightweight for your taste, try this bold take by veteran writer Ernest Hemingway, who had seen his share of war: “Courage is grace under pressure.”
In my own life, it has brought me to a decision: I will hold myself to a standard of grace, not perfection. That is who I want to be and the world I would like to live in. So as the new season unfolds around us – gently and at its own pace, yet unstoppable – join me in making a little space for grace.
