Fresh Living
I’m no fan of winter,
I hate being cold, have trouble getting up in the dark and dislike that everyone dresses according to the weather – in shades of grey! There’s an upside of course: lazy Sunday mornings in bed, hilarious board-game tournaments and
a profusion of ever-comforting robust winter food. So in the spirit of keeping life warm, cosy and wintery we’re celebrating all things slow this month.
On the food front, there are nursery puddings (page 42) that conjure up sticky childhood memories and gently simmered stews (page 34) that will make your home smell like heaven and your stomach rumble with delight.
And if you really fancy taking this slow thing on board, you might consider a meditation course (page 28), Suzy Bell tried it, and now she sports a serene, Mona Lisa-style smile. If that’s a little drastic, perhaps just brush up on what Slow Food really is and why there’s an international movement in its honour – it’s worth supporting.
But because life doesn’t always allow for the
chilled-out nirvana of all things slow, we’ve also got our regular Nice n Easy pages (page 50) that guarantee dinner on the table – fast.
Whatever the pace, keep warm, get cosy and enjoy!
